From - Ru Da Dé - Video / Sound Art Installation at California Institute of the Arts (2022)
Alex is a composer and sound designer, specializing in creating original music and audio for media. He is also a percussionist and has expansive performance, teaching, and writing experience. He has composed for award-winning films which have been selected to be premiered at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles, as well as many film festivals. His works aim to explore new ways to communicate with sound by developing and utilizing both experimental and cutting-edge techniques.
Alex has performed around the United States in venues like the Percussive Arts Society International Convention in Indianapolis, including performances for unique media productions such as ABC’s The Bachelor.
He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the California Institute of the Arts, majoring in “Composition & Experimental Sound Practices” with a specialization in Composition for Film & Video. Attending on merit-based scholarships, he studied with world-renown composers and sound artists including David Rosenboom, Karen Tanaka, and Clay Chaplin.
As a collaborator with CalArts’ prestigious Character Animation Department, founded by Walt Disney, he developed a reputation for taking on collaborative projects that aim to produce unique and original sounds while highlighting detailed emotional communication with the audience.
